Continuing Education

I think learning is important, so in that light, I've decided to learn Hebrew. As my roommate speaks it fluently, and used to live in Israel, it seemed a logical choice. I've got the Pimsleur on my iPod, the roommate to correct my mistakes- I'm off!

So far I can say "Do you understand English? I don't understand Hebrew." "Excuse me?" and "Tits".

Wanting to expand this, I am of course planning on listening to the lessons whenever possible. So, there I am in the cab, diligently (and quietly) practicing my Hebrew- which as you know consists of how to say "Do you understand English?" and "No, I don't understand Hebrew" and variations thereof (also "Tits"). I am assuming that the cabdriver either can't hear me, or thinks I'm on the phone or something, but as I get out he says "(insert word in Hebrew I don't know yet)" and I'm like "Eh?" And he says (in English) "You are learning Hebrew! Congratulations!" And I said (in Hebrew) (this is the best part) "You understand Hebrew!" It was very sweet.

Oh, yeah- that's what happened to me today.

Oh my!

Oh my! you say... How lovely!

Why thank you for noticing! I say.

Yes, I did clean the kitchen, and the living room, and eliminate the rank garbage/dead rat smell! It wasn't easy, but I did it. And yes, those flowers on the table are from me. I know, I shouldn't have, but I was feeling extravagent after spending only $150 on changing the lock that someone broke their key in. It was hard to run home to make sure the locksmith could get in, but I was actually glad he was late, because if he hadn't been? I wouldn't have had the chance to do that extra load of dishes!

And my boss is super glad I'm taking a half day off to supervise the maintenance on the rest of the apartment this Wednesday. Good thing he's in NC!

Seriously, though- I rocked out with my productivity today. Writing table is all set up for tomorrow, and I have one giant bag of clothes to go to the Salvation Army. Also pretty flowers!

To the Powers That Be

To whom it may concern:

I am quite tired of getting the rug pulled out from under me every time I feel as though I am getting a grip on things. Enough. I get it, yes? So perhaps the next time I sign a lease, those who said they'd live with me will stay. Or perhaps my job won't be in jeopardy. And on. And on. I do apologize for what must seem like endless pleas for stability- perhaps I've overwhelmed you. In any case, new roommates would be appreciated.

Best regards,

Me
